Apollo Systems Research Corporation

Today, I was invited to Ottawa by Apollo Systems Research Corporation which is a little company they describe as a Financial Engineering Laboratory. I think this is an accurate description. What I saw was a group of very smart and talented people working on very exciting problems.

In cooperation with a private hedge fund, Apollo has identified significant opportunities in applying rigorous mathematical methods to problems in finance. Apollo is developing a Financial Engineering Laboratory (FEL) which provides an interactive environment for the systematic development and evolution of high-performance trading strategies. These strategies are based on analytical techniques originating from systems science, soft computing and artificial intelligence. They are designed to achieve very high returns on investment and low volatility by trading without the bias of human emotions.

  1. We are Exclusive Aboriginal Partners to SIM office furniture and products, meaning we are on the same level as Grand and Toy and Staples. I would love to do business with Apollo Systems and was wondering how or who I should contact. We are very competitive and would be willing to out bid these other competitors.

    Thanks,

  2. I too was invited back in early 2004 and had the same impression of the team. After our discussion I felt I was underqualified but I did learn from the experience nonetheless. Since then I have chatted with a few researchers and read several interesting books relating to non-linear models and trading psychology. I am still not sold on the idea that such mathematical expertise will beat out a seasoned equity trader over the long run. I can however, see how it can help to limit risk and hedge positions that are unlikely being done by anyone else.
