Medicine

  • The Archon X PRIZE for Genomics will be awarded to the first privately financed group to sequence 100 human genomes in 10 days. ($10,000,000)

Machine Learning

  • The Netflix Prize seeks is given out to people who can substantially improve the accuracy of predictions about people’s tastes based on a large database of ratings. ($1,000,000)

Security

  • The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) sponsors the cooperative computing awards: find primes with over 1,000,000 digits and win up to $250,000.
